National Talkblack 250723

We had:

Joe Clark, Centrefarm Group General Manager, talking about how Centrefarm’s Co-Mapping with Traditional Custodians is a foundation for two-Way knowledge exchange. Centrefarm Aboriginal Horticulture Limited, Aboriginal not-for-profit organisation based in Alice Springs, is co-mapping in the Alekarenge and Mataranka regions with Traditional Custodians on their respective Land Trusts.

Karel Williams, PhD student and First Nations registered midwife, talking about the calls for more Indigenous midwives as experts estimate national shortfall to be 1,300. Experts say that for some First Nations people, giving birth in a hospital is traumatic and frightening — tainted with an unspoken threat that their baby might be taken away. https://www.abc.net.au/…/calls-for-more…/102637086
