National Talk Black 290324

On todays National Talk Black via NIRS – National Indigenous Radio Service we have:

Sashi Anantham, Principal at IQVIA, talking about how a new report is urging Aussies to prepare ahead of cold and flu season, with cases predicted to skyrocket by 200% after the Easter long weekend. With a half a million people estimated to already be affected by cold and flu, the report is forecasting one in three Aussies will be be hit by the ‘cold snap’, with NSW taking the crown as the nation’s cold and flu capital. The Codral Cold and Flu Forecast has also revealed Queensland’s top three hotspots as

• Southport

• Cairns

• Hervey Bay

Brad Whitcomb, Group Executive, Telstra Consumer, talking about the launch of Telstra Satellite Home Internet, powered by Starlink. One of the benefits of LEO satellites is that they are much closer to Earth than traditional geostationary satellites and form part of a “constellation,” or a group of multiple satellites, allowing them to send and receive signals much faster.

Anastasia Woolmer, Record-Setting Memory Champion and Memory Coach, talking about Number amnesia and the importance of committing important phone numbers to memory. Since giving the job of remembering important mobile numbers to our smartphones, Aussies could now be experiencing ‘number amnesia’ which is the inability to recall a single phone number from memory. Despite this, research shows most of us (78%) actually want to get better at remembering numbers.

Jay Wymarra, Indigenous Comedian, talking about joining Australia’s premier First Nations comedians at Aboriginal Comedy Allstars from Thursday 2 May to Saturday 4 May at Brisbane Powerhouse. Jay sheds light on his journey through comedy, doing drag and his thoughts on the upcoming Comedy Festival.
