NATIONAL TALK BLACK – 24/10/2024
On todays National Talk Black via NIRS – National Indigenous Radio Service we have:
Tracey Wickham, National Community Engagement Manager at Friends with Dignity, talking about the spike in demand for services of national charity offering a lifeline for Australians displaced by violence. Devastatingly, for seven in ten (69%) of those that are able to make the brave decision to leave their abusers, they leave behind property and assets. Not only that, one in seven (14%) report that they continue to experience violence following separation, making the decision to leave an extremely challenging one. This Giving Day (24th October) Friends with Dignity is calling for support to meet the growing demand for their services in Australia and help to change attitudes and tolerance of violent behaviours.

Emily McDaniel, Curator of the Eora Journey program, talking about Redfern Terrace to become a living museum. The City of Sydney is looking for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists to transform a narrow terrace in Redfern into a living museum. The living museum would deliver on a promise made in the City of Sydney’s Eora Journey – a program of work promoting cultural, economic and social sustainability for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in our local area, including a series of major public artworks. Ideas can be submitted up to 11am Tuesday 19 November. Visit the link below, to read more about the project and the selection process!
