National Talkblack 160821
We had:
Tory Paasi, proud Budjiti man and Assistant Manager for the Disability Royal Commission at First Peoples Disability Network (Australia) talking about Good Disability Royal Commission NDIS and criminal justice on 12-13 August. First Peoples Disability Network has strong concerns that the buck passing between different levels of government is making the NDIS hard to access for people with disability leaving prison. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with disability are 14 times more likely to be imprisoned with one third reporting a disability, 50% reporting a history of psychosocial disability, and 25-30% of prisoners having an intellectual disability.
Ross Andrews, Mayor of Yarrabah Aboriginal Shire Council talking about the recent Cairns and Yarrabah lockdown that took place last week. Have something happening in your community, and you want to talk about it, give us a call on 1800 422 416. Or Give us a text on 0457 140 550!
We would also like to thank the Community Broadcasting Foundation and National Indigenous Australians Agency for their support here at BBM 98.7FM.
Make sure to tune in Monday-Friday 11am-12pm QLD Time to stay up to date with the latest national events.
