NATIONAL TALK BLACK – 29/04/2025
On todays National Talk Black via NIRS – National Indigenous Radio Service we have:
Chantelle Lee Lockhart, Bangarra Dance Theatre Dancer, talking about Bangarra Premieres First-Ever Visual Arts Collaboration “Illume” – Touring Nationally in 2025. In 2025, Australia’s leading Indigenous performing arts company, Bangarra Dance Theatre, will present the world premiere of their first-ever visual arts collaboration, Illume, an exciting new presentation from Mirning woman and Bangarra artistic director, Frances Rings and Goolarrgon Bard visual artist, Darrell Sibosado. Inspired by Sibosado’s Bard – Bardi Jawi Country on the north-western coast of Western Australia, Illume draws together music, visual arts and dance to explore the ways light has captivated and sustained Indigenous cultural existence for millennia. This collaboration allows us to examine light from both choreographic and visual art perspectives, in a unique approach that draws on both movement and visual elements to convey complex themes about light, culture, and environmental issues. Chantelle Lee Lockhart is a descendant of the Dharawal people as well as the people of the Eora Nation. Growing up on the NSW Central Coast and Muswellbrook in the Upper Hunter, Chantelle has been dancing since the age of two, and in her pursuit to explore all types of dance and build her artistic practice, she has travelled extensively. You can find out more via the link below, as well as the discounted $15 Community Tickets initiative available throughout the whole season!

Matt Smith – Labor for Leichhardt, Labor candidate for Leichhardt, chatting to Trendy Trev about what the lead up to the elections and his run for Leichhardt has been since we last saw him. He also holds voluntary basketball clinics with local schools and community groups across FNQ. Through this work, Matt has seen firsthand the pressure families are under and the need to build good, secure jobs in Far North Queensland. That’s why he is running as a part of Anthony Albanese’s team. A team that is delivering cost of living relief across the community and creating a Future Made in Australia. Matt is proud to be a part of a team that has delivered a tax cut to every taxpayer, that is investing in a future made here and is ensuring Queenslanders are earning more and keeping more of what they earn.
