National Talk Black 260324

On todays National Talk Black via NIRS – National Indigenous Radio Service we have:

Rachael Lance, Head of Individual Giving at WWF Australia, talking about how a new challenge launches to support Aussie nature regeneration. Australia has the highest rate of mammal extinction on the planet and species like the eastern quoll have disappeared from the mainland. From 1 March Earth Hour at 8.30pm on 23 March, people are being challenged to walk, run, cycle or swim for 60 minutes a day to raise funds to regenerate nature.

Leon Loganathan, Lawyer for Urban Rampage and Partner of NT Law Firm Ward Keller, talking about First Nations shoppers slamming the Australian Securities & Investments Commission’s (ASIC) decision to cut off Centrepay. Centrepay is a long-standing Commonwealth Government scheme that allows people to buy essential goods and pay them off via regular deductions from Centrelink payments. On Friday March 15, ASIC extended an interim stop order against family-owned and operated Urban Rampage, which operate stores in remote communities in Queensland, Western Australian and the Northern Territory.

Yuluwirra McGrady, Madalahs Non-Executive Director, talking about how ten students recently got a taste of the FIFO lifestyle and a unique tour of sites of cultural significance during a special visit to Fortescue Metals Group’s Eliwana mine site in the Pilbara. A not-for-profit organisation, MADALAH offers secondary and tertiary education scholarships and has been a corporate partner with Fortescue since November 2021, with FMG providing scholarships over three years for eight secondary and two tertiary students from high-performing schools across Perth.
