National Talk Black 220524

On todays National Talk Black via NIRS – National Indigenous Radio Service we have:

Paul Brady, Secretary for the Manoora Community Alliance, talking about the Junior Youth Spiritual Empowerment Program (JYSEP) in Queensland. One of the strongest yearnings of junior youth is to belong to a group of peers. Therefore, the program is organised around the concept of a ‘junior youth group’, the members of which meet together regularly to participate in activities that enhance their intellectual and moral capabilities and build the capacities required to help their local communities. The JYSEP is for those aged 11-15 years old and is a three year program. It is offered to all the local junior youth in a town or neighbourhood in which it is held.

Kirsty Burchil, Indigenous Musician, talking with Trendy Trev about her second release “When I Feel”. Kirsty also known as Kaybee hopes to progress in her music career and be able to show her community to never give up on pursuing your dreams no matter how big or small. You can check out her new single on Spotify on the link below!

Morgan Hunter, Volunteer at Motherless Daughters Australia, talking about charting a new course for volunteering: emerging opportunities in challenging times, in honour of National Volunteer Week (20-26 May). People are finding it difficult to prioritise volunteering, or afford the potential costs associated, such as transport or fuel. In fact, a quarter (26%) of young people say they don’t volunteer due to financial reasons, while just over half (54%) of volunteers say they’ve incurred out-of-pocket expenses from volunteering. This National Volunteer Week (20th – 26th May) Volunteering Australia is encouraging all people who’ve thought about volunteering to take the leap and know there is ‘Something for Everyone’.
