Mish Eastman, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Vocational Education and Vice-President, talking about National Skills Week (19-26 August) and celebrating vocational education. National Skills Week shines a light on the breadth and diversity of vocational education and what it has to offer. VET offers more than 150 courses available in areas beyond trades including business and finance, ICT, nursing, manufacturing, engineering, cybersecurity and more.

Simone Tawadros, Zyrtec Spokesperson, talking about the new research revealing the impact of allergic rhinitis in Australian children. Allergic rhinitis results in symptoms that can cause sneezing, runny noses and watery, itchy eyes. While Australians know the symptoms of hay fever, symptoms of allergic rhinitis can be triggered all-year-round by things like dust, pet dander and mould. Batchelor Institute’s Professor Kathryn Gilbey, Indigenous Australian lead researcher for the project, talking about how the Batchelor Institute of indigenous Tertiary Education is proud to launch the week-long 2024 SPIRIT Global Gathering, which kicks off on Sunday 18th August at its Desert Precinct Campus in Mparntwe (Alice Springs). The SPIRIT – Supporting Play and Intergenerational Relationships with Indigenous Tradition – project, is a five-year $30 million global initiative aimed at improving child development and well-being in First Nations communities. Led by Johns Hopkins Centre for Indigenous Health (USA) and supported by Batchelor Institute (Australia), The University of Otago (NZ), and First Nations Health Authority (Canada), the project is funded by the Lego Foundation’s “Build a World of Play Challenge”.

Marcello Riotto, Director of the MTA Institute, talking about MTA Institute Expanding their Popular Auto Ready Program to Regional Queensland. MTA Institute (RTO No. 31529), the leading industry-owned provider of automotive apprenticeships and training in Queensland, is expanding its popular Auto Ready program to the regions. High school students from across Cairns, Rockhampton, and Townsville will have the opportunity to get hands-on experience working with real vehicles while exploring the many exciting and prosperous career pathways available in the automotive industry.
