On todays National Talk Black via NIRS – National Indigenous Radio Service we have:

Donna Donzow, EON Foundations NT Operations Manager, talking about how the EON Foundations fruit and veggie gardens are boosting nutrition and budgets in remote NT communities. The EON Foundation builds edible gardens in remote Aboriginal schools and communities and uses them to teach health and nutrition with the aim of reducing preventable and chronic diseases. The foundation was established in 2005 in response to the Telethon Institute for Child Health Research’s investigation into Aboriginal Child Health in WA.

Sharon Cavanagh-Luskin and Irene Portelli, Founder and CEO of “Illuminate FNQ” and Founder of “We Made It” and “Circular Economy”, talking about Bringing Scientists into the Community Agenda. Illuminate-FNQ role to Advance Traditional Owner scientific management of country that facilitates involvement in STEM decision -making, and a new understanding of First Nations scientific knowledge and skill sets for management of a modified but sustainable STEM Strategies, creating the foundations for “New” Science. The primary impetus of this project is addressing the critical need for greater within our region.
