On todays National Talk Black via NIRS – National Indigenous Radio Service we have:
Birrunga Wiradyuri, Founder and Principal Artist at Birrunga Gallery, talking about the Indigenous Story Bridge Adventure Climb designed to immerse tourists in history and Culture of First Nations knowledge and stories. The Story Bridge Indigenous Climb is a collaboration between Birrunga Gallery and Howard Smith Wharves, the result of a strong partnership and a shared vision to elevate Queensland’s Indigenous tourism and hospitality experiences. The Indigenous Story Bridge Adventure Climb experience is expected to open to the public in August.
Adrian Malone, Cultural Practice Lead for Children Youth and Families (Anglicare Southern Queensland), talking about championing cultural connections for youth in out-of-home care. He emphasises the significance of maintaining cultural connections for young people in out-of-home care, stating that it ensures the preservation of cultural heritage and fosters the development of future storytellers and knowledge holders. Reconnecting or connecting young people with their cultural practices aids in healing, grieving, and amplifying the strengths within Indigenous communities, he said.
Mayrah Sonter, Director and one of the co-founders of Indigenous Business Month (IBM), talking about Indigenous Business Month celebrates 10 years in October 2024. Indigenous Business Month is a collective movement that celebrates and showcases the diversity and excellence of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses across Australia. This year we mark a decade of promoting the distinction of Indigenous Businesses. Indigenous Business Month was co-founded by three First Nations women Dr Michelle Evans, Leesa Watego and Mayrah Sonter in 2015. This years theme is “Making our Mark”.
