Cassandra Pons, Founder of Lazy Girl Lingerie, talking about Indigenous Fashion Projects (IFP) involvement with the Australian Fashion Week. Indigenous Fashion Projects (IFP) and David Jones welcome the return of the IFP Pathways Program for 2024, nurturing and overseeing the designs of seven First Nations creatives, with five showcasing at Australian Fashion Week. The IFP Pathways Program is a two-year fashion label development program that aims to empower and support the growth of First Nations designers through workshops and mentorship with David Jones and established Australian designers. Lazy Girl Lingerie is all about lingerie that inspires effortless confidence. The label began with a mission to change the way women feel about themselves and a commitment to celebrating all that makes us unique. Lazy Girls believe that all bodies are good bodies, no matter our size, shape, colour or age.
Jasmine and Penelope, Young First Nations artists apart of UMI Arts exhibitors “Culture through our eyes”, talking about showcasing their art for the exhibition “Culture through our eyes” Friday 24th May. UMI Arts is the peak Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander arts and cultural organisation for Far North Queensland. This area extends north of Cairns to include the Torres Strait Islands, south to Cardwell, west to Camooweal and includes the Gulf of Carpentaria and Mt Isa regions. UMI Arts will showcase the distinct and diverse talent and storytelling of Far North Queensland’s young and emerging First Nations artists in its second exhibition for 2024.
Rachael Beswick and Michael Hogan, Co-Chair of the Queensland Child and Youth Clinical Network (QCYCN) and Executive Convenor of Thriving Queensland Kids Partnership, talking about the Queensland Child and Youth Clinical Network 2024 Annual Forum. The Queensland Child and Youth Clinical Network connects health professionals, services, and systems across Queensland to improve the safety and quality of health care. This year’s forum highlights the critical need for early intervention and engagement, with a dedicated focus on these elements from a life course perspective. Throughout the event, speakers will articulate the merits of preventative health, demonstrating its capacity to reshape life trajectories and yield lifelong, multigenerational health, social, and economic advantages. As part of the day, they drew on workforce, consumer and cross-sectional perspectives and provide opportunities for collaboration.
