On todays National Talk Black via NIRS – National Indigenous Radio Service we have:
Moo Baulch OAM and Vicky Welgraven AM, Our Watch Chair and Co-Deputy Chair, talking about Our Watchs’ announcement of permanent First Nations Deputy Chairs. Our Watch is an independent not-for-profit organisation, who is a national leader in the primary prevention of violence against women and their children in Australia. They work to embed gender equality and prevent violence where Australians live, learn, work and socialise. One of the Co-Deputy Chairs, Ms Welgraven, an Adnyamathanha woman from the northern Flinders Ranges of South Australia, is also a Board Director of Power Community Limited, the not-for-profit charity arm of the Port Adelaide Football Club, a Member of UN Women Australia and an Ambassador of the Hutt Street Centre in South Australia. She has also been inducted into the South Australian Women’s Honour Roll (2015) and represented the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Women’s Alliance at the UN Commission on the Status of Women (2016) in New York. Sergeant of Highway Patrol Greg Rose and PLO Stephen Grant from Edmonton Police, talking about National Road Safety Week (5 – 12 May). National Road Safety Week is an annual initiative from the Safer Australian Roads and Highways (SARAH) Group, partnering road safety organisations and Government. The week highlights the impact of road trauma and ways to reduce it. Sergeant Greg sheds some light on what he does on Highway Patrol and how the week went for him.
