Arian Pearson, Bush Music Fund Co-Founder, talking about the First Nations music program Bush Music Fund announcing their 2024 artists – Ripple Effect Band, Mulga Bore Hard Rock & James Range Band. With the aim of empowering remote communities and elevating their voices within the music space, Bush Music Fund’s 2024 recipients Ripple Effect Band (Maningrida, Arnhem Land, NT), Mulga Bore Hard Rock (Akaye, NT) and James Range Band (Utju, NT) will receive two years of financial assistance, personalised career development and music industry services – e.g. album release strategy, touring support, vinyl services, social media marketing strategy, full-service PR, marketing and distro.
Dr Rohan Fisher, Charles Darwin University Northern Institute fire researcher, talking about the funding boost for invaluable bushfire mapping service. The North Australia and Rangelands Fire Information service (NAFI) at Charles Darwin University (CDU) will continue to guide thousands of people through Northern Australia’s intense fire seasons after being awarded a Federal Government grant for operations. Since its inception more than 20 years ago NAFI has played a critical role in bushfire prevention and management in Northern Australia, providing users with timely, accurate and easy to access data. NAFI received $588,000 through the Disaster Resilience Australia Package to continue operations in 2024/25.
Cheryl Leavy, award-winning poet and writer, talking about the unbreakable bond of family and the revitalisation of language, through her latest book “Yanga Mother”.
