NATIONAL TALK BLACK – 14/01/2025
On todays National Talk Black via NIRS – National Indigenous Radio Service we have:
Grant Cunningham, Coach of Sporting Wheelies’ Wheelchair Cricket team, talking about how Australia’s national sport is becoming inclusive for Queenslanders living with disability. Australia’s love for sport is undeniable, with 90% of adults participating in sports at least once a year. However, for Queenslanders living with disability, this passion often meets barriers, with less than a quarter (24%) participating in sports weekly. To bridge this gap and foster inclusivity ahead of the Brisbane 2032 Games, Sporting Wheelies have introduced a brand-new Wheelchair Cricket program, launching in Brisbane and the Gold Coast from this week! Sporting Wheelies makes sure every Queenslander with a disability will have opportunities to live a more active and healthy life by engaging, empowering and developing people with a disability to live a more healthy, active and fulfilled life of their choosing.
