NATIONAL TALK BLACK – 13/01/2026
On todays National Talk Black via NIRS – National Indigenous Radio Service we have:
Michelle Carter, State Library of Queensland Spokesperson, talking about eSports connecting remote youth and veterans. State Library of Queensland, in partnership with Veteran Gaming Australia, is bringing esports to remote First Nations communities. Delivered through Indigenous Knowledge Centres (IKCs) it creates safe, inclusive spaces where community members can learn, compete and connect – guided by veteran mentors with lived experience in teamwork and leadership. The tournament uses the popular game Rocket League to engage community members. Mornington Island and Kowanyama were the first IKCs to participate the tournament (in December). Doomadgee, Hope Vale, Cherbourg , Aurukun, Mapoon, Erub and Badu will participate in January/February next year. You can find out more via the link below!
