Dr. Michael Woodcock, Suncoast Vet Owner and Head Veterinarian, talking about Tick season surge puts Aussie pets at deadly risk. With Australia now in the deadly peak of paralysis tick season, vets are warning that it only takes one tick and one missed dose of protection to put your dog’s life in serious danger. Paralysis ticks are one of Australia’s most common and most life-threatening pet emergencies, with around 10,000 cases reported each year. With dogs and cats healthy one day and unable to walk or breathe the next, veterinary experts are warning of a concerning surge in cases during spring and early summer, particularly following rainfall. While highly effective preventatives are available, owner habits are a key barrier to protection. In fact, almost one in two (47%) of Australian and New Zealand pet owners have forgotten at least one treatment dose in the last year, over two in five (45%) struggle to remember treatment dates and over half (57%) find it hard to administer the dose. Dr Michael Woodcock is the founder and owner of SuncoastVet, a network of five veterinary clinics on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. You can find out more via the link below!
