Mayrah Sonter, Director and one of the co-founders of Indigenous Business Month (IBM), talking about Indigenous Business Month celebrates 10 years in October 2024. Indigenous Business Month is a collective movement that celebrates and showcases the diversity and excellence of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses across Australia. This year we mark a decade of promoting the distinction of Indigenous Businesses. Indigenous Business Month was co-founded by three First Nations women Dr Michelle Evans, Leesa Watego and Mayrah Sonter in 2015. This years theme is “Making our Mark”.

Scott Buchanan, Executive Director of the Wet Tropics Management Authority, talking about how nominations are now open for the 20th anniversary Cassowary Awards, the only awards program in Australia to recognise community contributions to World Heritage management. They celebrate the efforts of organisations and individuals who have conserved, protected and raised awareness about the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area. Check out the link below to nominate!

Marjorie Anderson, National Program Manager, talking about how 13YARN marking 50,000 calls supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in crisis. 13YARN is the first national crisis support line for mob who are feeling overwhelmed or having difficulty coping. In 2022, 16% of callers cited racism as the reason for their distress, rising to 19% in 2023. This statistic continues to rise, and currently sits at 26% in the calendar year to date.
