Hunter Page-Lochard, “Waru” writer, talking about Bangarra Dance Theatre’s “Waru” to make a splash in QPAC’s Playhouse this June. A journey of survival and discovery with our heroine Migi the turtle, the contemporary saltwater Lagaw Kazil (Island Children) story is inspired by the totemic system of the green turtle, in an interactive and immersive introduction to Torres Strait Islander culture and dance for three- to eight-year-olds. Bangarra Dance Theatre will bring its delightful work for children, Waru – journey of the small turtle to the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) from Wednesday 26 to Saturday 29 June for the school holidays.

Leila Guruwiwi, eSafetys Online Safety Campaigns First Nations media voice, talking about eSafety leading a First Nations component of an essential initiative: the Online Safety Campaign. The campaign raises awareness of the Online Safety Act 2021 – laws that protect Australians from severe online abuse, encompassing everything from the unauthorised sharing of explicit images to combating illegal and violent content, as well as addressing severe harassment and threats online. They are passionate about amplifying awareness and understanding of the protections available under this legislation and committed to ensuring that our mob, feel empowered and equipped to stay safe online. William Palmer, First Nations Tour Guide, talking about his job as a First Nations Tour Guide. Growing up On Country provided Will with continuous learning. His grandmother, guided him and passed on local knowledge including the Arrernte language, cultural significant stories and knowledge of Country. The tourism industry in the Northern Territory is worth almost $800 million and brings visitors from all over the world, many of whom love to learn more about First Nations history, language and culture. This is where Will sees himself thriving as he feels the position suits both his passions and knowledge.
