Respected senior elder, ceremony man, ranger and scholar from Central Arnhem Land, Otto Bulmaniya Campion (Gamarrang), has been awarded an honorary Doctor of Letters by Charles Darwin University (CDU) in an inaugural on-country ceremony on October 5.
June Riemer, First Peoples Disability Network Deputy CEO, talking about Inquiry hears concerns over inadequacy of Disability Support Pension. CEO Damian Griffis and Deputy CEO June Riemer presented a range of key recommendations for the initiative which would improve its applicability to those within the Indigenous community who live with disabilities. “The level of Disability Support Pension is inadequate to meet regular costs of living, including the extra costs associated with disability, and there are significant barriers to accessing the DSP.” they said.
