National Talkblack 230123

We had:

Peter Cooley, CEO of IndigiGrow Native Bushfoods & Plants, talking about IndigiGrow’s new native nursery. Sydney-based Aboriginal non-profit organisation IndigiGrow is opening a new wholesale native plant nursery that will give it room to grow its business and provide work experience for school students and apprenticeships for Aboriginal youth.

Belinda Lawton, National Manager – Strategic Communications and Partnerships at Royal Life Saving Society – Australia, talking about calls for men to ‘make the right call’ when they’re on, in, or near the water with their mates and families. This summer, six people drowned on Christmas Day and Boxing Day alone.

Nerita Waight, CEO of the Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service, talking about Victoria to end public drunkenness laws with no new arrest powers for police. Indigenous representatives are celebrating the decision not to replace law with police move-on powers.
