National TalkBlack 210622
We had:
Col Mackereth, Peer Support Worker at Spinal Life Australia, talking about how peer support is vital for Australians coming to terms with physical disabilites. A staggering one in three Australian adults living with a disability experience high or very high levels of distress. Unexpectedly acquiring a disability can be completely life changing, so access to a solid support network on the journey back to independence is essential.
Lydia Miller, Program Director at Indigenous Womens Development and Leadership Program talking about Search for ‘Deadly Women’ to be recognised and rewarded for their skills and experience. First Nations women from across Far North Queensland and the Northern Territory, between the ages of 18 and 55, are being encouraged to apply to join the Deadly Women’s Development and Leadership Program.
