Produced by the team at Cairns Indigenous Art Fair (CIAF), Urban BLAKtivation will surprise and delight visitors to the city’s Shields Street cultural precinct with a live and free First Nations showcase from 4.30 pm to 8 pm on Saturday, 21 October 2023.

Jon Vea Vea, Cook Cook Singer, talking about sharing Australia’s Blak History through music at a time of heightened misinformation. From pre-colonisation, first contact with cook, the Ureka Stockade to today, Cook Cook singer, Jon Vea Vea combines his more than 40-year career of musical storytelling with historical analysis to share often overlooked First Nations experiences and perspectives of Australian history in ‘Rekindle the Campfire.’
