Alwyn Lyall, FNQ Voice member and representative of the Uluru Dialogue, talking about FNQ Locals get their First Nations Voice questions answered. The sessions are designed to give local communities access to credible and authoritative information about the Voice and upcoming referendum.

Ben Gertz, Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Foundation Board Member, talking about QATSIF recognised as 2023 Queensland Philanthropic Foundation of the Year. The Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Foundation (QATSIF) is proud to have been recognised as the 2023 Philanthropic Foundation of the Year at the annual Queensland Community Foundation Philanthropy Awards Lunch.

Matt Mellahn, AFL Cape York Development Coordinator, talking about the AFL Cape York trip to Sunshine Coast. 22 students from across Cape York and the Torres Strait have returned home after competing at the 2023 Australian Football (AFL) State School Championships on the Sunshine Coast. The Crusaders team had representatives from 14 communities from Hope Vale through to Iama Island in the Torres Strait.

Napau Pedro Stephen AM, TSRA Chairperson, talking about the first visit by First Nations Ambassador to the Torres Strait. The Torres Strait Regional Authority (TSRA) has welcomed Australia’s inaugural Ambassador for First Nations People Justin Mohamed on his first official visit to region from 1 – 3 June.

Deon Hastie, NAISDA’s Head of Dance, talking about NAISDA and Carriageworks present ATI – A Dance Reckoning of Truth Place and Belonging. ATI, meaning ‘journey’ in the Meriam Mer language from the Eastern Islands of the Torres Strait, is a powerful declaration of survival and belonging shared through cultural and contemporary First Nations dance stories.
