National Talkblack 110619

On todays National Talkblack via NIRS – NIRS – National Indigenous Radio Service we had:

Aaron Smith – Editor – Torres News. Yarning about more citizenship limbo cases with first nation people who have found themselves in trouble with the law. The federal government has told them they are not citizens and than gone on to be detained and deported to a country they were born in but not lived in since they were very young.

Good news story: The QLD government has announced an airfare subsidy by June this year so that people visiting family and friends can hopefully get a cheaper rate.

Associate Professor John Bradley. Deputy Director of the Monash Indigenous Centre. Monash University’s unique project to preserve, and in some cases bring back to life, Indigenous language through animations, Monash Country Lines Archive, has been gifted an Indigenous name – Wunungu Awara: Animating Indigenous Knowledges.

Chris Croker – Managing Director – Impact Investment Partners. Impact Investment Partners is launching the first investment fund that helps to build infrastructure for Indigenous Australians. The launch of the fund is an important step towards increasing Indigenous direct economic engagement through employment, procurement and leasing from Indigenous landholders.
