We had:
Alicia McArdie, Mars marine Project Manager talking about how Hope Reef, part of the world’s largest coral reef restoration program, has been unveiled off the coast of Sulawesi, Indonesia. The reef, which can be seen on Google Earth, has been built to spell the word ‘HOPE’ and is a symbol to show the world how positive change can happen within our lifetime. Hope Reef uses innovative ‘Reef Star’ technology – 90cm-wide, star-shaped, steel structures that are handmade by the local community in Indonesia. By the end of 2029, Dine’s® ambition is to restore more than 185,000 square meters of coral reef at sites around the world – roughly the size of 148 Olympic swimming pools.
Senior Constable Nicole O’Rourke, PLO Stephen Grant and PLO May-Lis Dalton talking about the month of May being Domestic and Family Violence Prevention month to raise community awareness of Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) and to send a clear message that DFV will not be tolerated. Wednesday 5th May 2021 at 5:30pm at the Wharf One Cafe in Cairns is a candle lighting ceremony to remember those who have died and the loved ones left behind because of DFV.
