Bradley Chatfield, QPAC’s Head of First Nations Programming, talking about Clancestry returning from the 30th of July in a program of First Nations arts and culture at QPAC. An iconic event part of QPAC’s calendar since 2013, Clancestry is a celebration of identity and connection, providing a platform for both established and emerging First Nations artists to share their stories, perspectives, and talents. Headlining this year’s program will be a concert combining the power of music and storytelling in Warriors, featuring powerhouse First Nations artists Andrew Gurruwiwi Band, J-MILLA, Jungaji and Radical Son. Also joining the program is Bangarra Dance Theatre’s incredible new work Horizon.

PLO Stephen Grant and Senior Sergeant Glen De Lai, Whichway Yarning with Edmonton Police, talking about National Missing Person Week. National Missing Persons Week aims to raise awareness about the significant number of young Australians reported missing. In 2023 approximately 56,000 missing persons reports were made to police in Australia, that’s over 150 missing events a day. Over 99% of people reported missing in 2023 were located. Furthermore, almost all of those found are found alive and well. The theme of this year’s national police campaign is, “Always Searching”. If you have information that may assist police to locate a missing persons please call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Michell Forster, Triple P Cultural Consultant, talking about National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day (4 August). This year’s theme, “Strong in Culture, Stronger Together,” resonates deeply with our communities, highlighting the important role of building strong, deadly family connections to support our kids to thrive. The National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day is an annual SNAICC event that is designed to celebrate children.
