National Talk Black 260424
On todays National Talk Black via NIRS – National Indigenous Radio Service we have:
Thomas E.S. Kelly, choreographer for Karul Projects – Silence, talking about how he has crafted this show to advocate for the establishment of a Treaty. Karul Project’s SILENCE pulls the Treaty conversation out from under the rug and slams it back on the table. With thrashing live drumming and a raw aesthetic, Thomas E.S. Kelly combines intimate storytelling with significant moments in Australian history bringing an unresolved conversation to a new generation. Silence will be taking on His Majesty’s Theatre (Perth), 1 – 2 May and Sydney Opera House 8 – 11 May. Check out more information and tickets below!
Tina Baum, Curator of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art, talking about Ever Present: First Peoples Art of Australia coming to National Gallery following its international tour. Following a successful international tour of the Asia Pacific region, the National Gallery of Australia will present Ever Present: First Peoples Art of Australia – an exhibition which celebrates First Nations art and provides a visual dialogue of Australia’s complex histories. Ever Present is a celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art that also explores Australia’s complex histories. The works challenge stereotypes about First Nations people and what defines their art.
Sean Choolburra, Indigenous comedian and dancer, talking about joining Australia’s premier First Nations comedians at Aboriginal Comedy Allstars. Standing alongside the comedic talents of Andy Saunders, Janty Blair, Jay Wymarra, Kevin Kropinyeri, and Elaine Crombie, the lineup promises unforgettable nights of laughter and storytelling.
Cheeky, clever and charismatic, Sean’s entrancing blend of pop culture, dance, comedy and hip hop delivers a high-energy, feel-good show for all the family. Seany will perform at both the Melbourne Comedy Festival, which is being held from 27 March to 21 April, and the Brisbane Comedy Festival from May 2 to May 5.
