Lauren Miller, Royal Life Saving Society Australia Senior Research and Policy Officer, talking about how the Tragic Surge in Drowning Deaths has Prompted an Urgent Call for Action Ahead of Summer. Australia has recorded the highest number of drowning deaths since records began, prompting urgent warnings from Royal Life Saving Australia and Surf Life Saving Australia. The National Drowning Report 2025, published by Royal Life Saving Australia and Surf Life Saving Australia, reveals 357 drowning deaths in the past year, which was 27% higher than the 10-year average. Dream Aloud Festival returns to Gimuy (Cairns) this October as the flagship celebration of Queensland Music Trails: The Tropics, bringing a vibrant fusion of First Nations music, culture, and creativity to Munro Martin Parklands. After an unforgettable debut, Dream Aloud 2025 is bigger, bolder, and bursting with fresh energy. On Saturday 18 October, the Parklands will come alive with a trailblazing, all-First Nations lineup featuring Budjerah, Kaiit, South Summit, DENNI, 3%, Dubbzone, Kaweyova, and Normey Jay, hosted by the ever-charismatic Zipporah.
