Special Guests from the 2025 Local Government Association of Queensland (LGAQ) talking Live with Trendy Trev. The Local Government Association of Queensland formed in 1896 to give local government a united voice. The Association is the peak body representing local government in Queensland in its dealings with other governments, unions, business and the community.
Mayor Elsie Seriat OAM, Torres Shire Council, The Shire of Torres covers the Torres Strait, extends down past the tip of Australia, and includes small islands near Cape York Peninsula. The core business for the Torres Shire Council consists of providing essential services to residents on Thursday Island, Horn Island and Prince of Wales Island and parts of the Torres Strait and Northern Peninsula Area (NPA) region.

Lucy Deemal, Torres Cape Indigenous Council Alliance (TCICA) Senior Executive Officer, The Torres Cape Indigenous Council Alliance represents 16 of Queensland’s 17 Indigenous local governments, as well as Cook Shire Council and Weipa Town Authority. We operate as a collaborative partnership of councils to represent the common interests of local governing bodies within the region. Their mission is to foster cooperation and resource sharing between member councils and effectively advocate on agreed regional positions and priorities.
