Anna Borzi AM, First Nations Writers Festival International Ltd Founder, talking about the First Nations Writers Festival winning authors recognised. The First Nations Writers Festival recently announced the winning authors of 2025. The festival is a community-driven initiative founded by Anna Borzi AM to profile First Nations writers and celebrate stories across the Pacific region and beyond. The winners will have their stories published, giving them a valuable public platform to share their story further. Close to 2.5 million people around the Pacific and beyond have been following the festival. The First Nations Writers Festival is a DGR registered charity. Leah Bennett, First Nations Foundation Managing Director, talking about Leah Bennett Appointed Managing Director of First Nations Foundation. First Nations Foundation, Australia’s only national Indigenous financial literacy organisation, has announced the appointment of Leah Bennett as its new Managing Director, signalling an important new chapter for the Foundation’s work and impact. Leah’s appointment reflects the organisation’s continued commitment to Indigenous-led leadership and culturally safe financial systems. A long-time Board Director of the Foundation and a proud Wiradjuri woman, Leah brings over 14 years’ experience across superannuation, financial services and governance — and a deep understanding of the structural and cultural shifts needed to achieve long-term, community-led financial outcomes. Under her leadership, the Foundation is poised to deepen its impact across education, representation, and economic empowerment — continuing to drive systemic change in the financial services sector to better support First Nations people. Ben Graetz, Garrmalang Festival Founder and Creative Director, talking about Garrmalang Retrospective: A Decade of Blak Excellence Celebrated at Darwin Entertainment Centre. On Saturday 21 June, Darwin Entertainment Centre proudly presents Garrmalang Retrospective, a landmark celebration honouring 10 powerful years of Darwin’s flagship First Nations cultural festival, Garrmalang Festival.
Headlining the program is acclaimed Arrernte/Gurindji singer-songwriter Dan Sultan, performing live with the Darwin Symphony Orchestra Quintet in an unforgettable one-night-only concert (7pm, The Playhouse). Founded in 2014 by Creative Director Ben Graetz, Garrmalang Festival has grown into a nationally significant event, amplifying Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices through music, dance, storytelling and visual art on Larrakia Country. This year’s Retrospective brings together past, present and future in a dynamic one-day program of performances, exhibitions, and reflection. You can find out more via the link below!
