On todays National Talk Black via NIRS – National Indigenous Radio Service we have:

Dr. Charlotte Hespe, Head of General Practice at University of Notre Dame, School of Medicine Sydney, talking about how experts have made the call for Aussies to stay on guard for life-threatening meningococcal disease. With up to one in ten (10%) of individuals carrying the bacteria without showing symptoms, experts are expecting to see a rise in cases this chilly season, following from last year’s 18% increase in cases compared to 2022. Aussies are being reminded to practice good hygiene to help prevent the spread of germs and equip themselves with potentially life-saving information to spot the early signs and symptoms of the disease. John Griffin, Queensland Manager at Brooks Australia, talking about how an increase in garage fires is putting experts on high alert. From exploding e-bikes and e-scooters to electrical faults in appliances, Australians are becoming complacent when it comes to fire safety in their garages, leading to a spike in garage fire related incidents. As winter approaches, experts are advising Australians to take preventive measures to keep them safe and more importantly know that interconnected smoke, heat, or multi alarms should be installed in all areas containing electrical devices to ensure early fire detection.
