On todays National Talk Black via NIRS – National Indigenous Radio Service we have:
Jack Wilkie-Jans, Traditional Owner from Mapoon (Western Cape) and Aboriginal Affairs advocate, calls for Crisafulli to act on Cape York priorities. Mr Wilkie-Jans says the Cape York Peninsula was overlooked during the Queensland Government election campaign and has “sorely missed out”, calling out the lack of advocacy from all candidates. He is encouraging the new Queensland Government to commit funds urgently and champion other outstanding needs for Cape York Peninsula. Mr Wilkie-Jans is asking the Crisafulli Government to unveil their plans for Cape York within their first 100 days of government. He also calls on Ministers to visit the Cape York Peninsula, to each community, and meet consistently with the Torres Cape Indigenous Councils Alliance to assess the current policy framework for the region. He also urges the Crisafulli Government to hold their first Community Cabinet sessions in a regional setting like Cairns.

Holiday shopping season is fast approaching – there are great bargains to be had in the Black Friday, Cyber Monday sales & Christmas sales But…the opportunities don’t just exist for the savvy shopper, it’s also the perfect time for scammers looking to take advantage of the high volume of ecommerce activity and related shipping notifications. Scammers may use email, SMS or social media to try and trick you into revealing account information or financial details and may even setup fraudulent websites to try and get you to pay for non-existent products and services. Here are some tips to help keep you safe: Shop only on trusted websites, Verify the URL, Use secure payment methods, Payment confirmation, Limit stored payment information, Better fraud protection, Monitor your accounts regularly, Know the warning signs, Avoid engaging with unexpected shopping and shipping themed messages, Don’t be tricked by imposters, Avoid public Wi-Fi for transactions, Use Strong passwords, Enforce MFA on your accounts and workflow and Remain alert to emotional manipulation.
