On todays National Talk Black via NIRS – National Indigenous Radio Service we have:

Matt Smith MP, Member for Leichhardt, talking about the Funding to strengthen Far North Queensland and Torres Strait against Disasters. Member for Leichhardt Matt Smith today welcomed more than $58 million in funding for critical infrastructure in Far North Queensland and Torres Strait. The Crucial Access Links Program is being funded through efficiencies realised under the joint Commonwealth-state Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA). The Crucial Access Links Program will safeguard transport linkages and access routes for rural and remote communities, aiding connectivity, and emergency response during disasters. The program will allow local councils to repair and upgrade a range of infrastructure assets from ferry landings to air strips. Matt Smith said upgrading critical infrastructure would help build resilience and ensure communities stay connected during natural disasters. You can find out more via the link below!
