NATIONAL TALK BLACK – 11/08/2025

On todays National Talk Black via NIRS – National Indigenous Radio Service we have:

Jeff Timor – known as “Uncle JT”, Elder and Volunteer Broadcaster at MY105FM, talking about winning Senior Mr NAIDOC. Uncle JT tells us about the NAIDOC Week they had in Townsville and the Elder Prison Visits for NAIDOC in Townsville.

Darrell Harris, On Country Events & Productions Managing Director, talking about the Yarrabah Music & Cultural Festival on Saturday 30th August. Nestled between the mountains and the Coral Sea, Yarrabah is home to the Gunggandji and Yidinji people with a proud history of sharing culture. That tradition will be on show at the new look Yarrabah Music and Cultural Festival with renowned Cape York band Black Image announced as the headline act. This intergenerational group fits perfectly with the ethos of the festival, proudly celebrating family and culture in their songs and their performance. Run by the community for the community, the festival will showcase far north Queensland performers to focus on employment, mentoring and training opportunities to build a sustainable local skilled workforce. The Yarrabah Music and Cultural Festival is supported by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland and Tourism and Events Queensland. You can find out more via the link below!
