NATIONAL TALK BLACK – 06/02/2025
On todays National Talk Black via NIRS – National Indigenous Radio Service we have:
Tictac, Co-producer of “Like My Brother”, talking about Shoalhaven First Nations Film Festival (SFNFF) presenting its first screening for 2025 – “Like My Brother”. Eight years in the making, Like My Brother is an inspirational film, with Indigenous and non-Indigenous creatives combining to tell a story of young First Nations women moving between two worlds – their home on the Tiwi Islands and the professional football clubs of Melbourne – and their endurance as they draw on ancient resilience and the support and strength of their Communities. Following the success of the inaugural SFNFF in September 2024, SFNFF is developing a program to extend the reach and impact of films by First Nations filmmakers – films that tell their own stories in their own words and inspire and encourage young people from local First Nations Communities to participate in recording their stories on film. The screening will be followed by afternoon tea to provide the audience with an opportunity to yarn and to talk together about the film. Tickets can be booked on TryBooking: https://www.trybooking.com/CYEVQ

The Queensland Police Service’s First Nations Division provides specialist capabilities to the Service. They are dedicated to building cultural safety, capability, trust, transparency and strengthening relationships between the Queensland Police Service, and First Nations communities across Queensland. They are working collaboratively with our First Nations communities to share information and develop initiatives that prevent harm. Together we are working to create a safer Queensland for everyone.
