National Talk Black 030424
On todays National Talk Black via NIRS – National Indigenous Radio Service we have:
Paul Clark, eSafety’s Executive Manager for Education, Prevention & Inclusion, talking about eSafety celebrating one year of their online safety resources for mob. One year ago, eSafety launched First Nations resources to help empower communities to stay safe and active online, and ensure mob’s voices, music and stories continue to be heard. They’ve seen over 20,000 people explore these web resources, reached thousands more through social media, and have met and presented to hundreds at the 10 different forums.
PLO Stephen Grant and Officer Charlotte from Edmonton Police, talking about Sleepiness and Fatigue. Driving when becoming sleepy is a high risk behaviour which can affect anyone – no individual is immune to the effects from sleepiness, no matter how experienced a driver they might be. A driver who has been awake for 17 hours has a driving ability similar to that of a driver with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.05, and after 21 hours, similar to a BAC of 0.151,2. Sleepiness contributes to 20-30% of all deaths and severe injuries on the road, similar to speeding and drink driving.
