National Talk Black 010724

On todays National Talk Black via NIRS – National Indigenous Radio Service we have:

Sherrill Nixon, CEO of Australian Schools Plus, talking about a new report revealing real solutions to the escalating wellbeing crisis in schools. The Every Child, Every Opportunity report reveals children’s wellbeing has become the highest priority for disadvantaged schools since 2020, with a significant increase in demand for wellbeing-focused initiatives and professional development for educators following a series of natural disasters and the pandemic. To broaden their impact on Australia’s most disadvantaged communities, School Plus have revealed three pivotal actions required and set to make the biggest impact – Educator Professional Development, Wellbeing Navigators, and Wellbeing Hubs. Dr. Vivek Bhadri, Medical Oncologist, talking about the critical work needed to advance patients diagnosed with Sarcoma. 52,000 Australians are diagnosed with a rare cancer every year. Sarcomas are rare and complex cancers of bone or soft tissue, accounting for less than 1% of adult cancers. In line with Sarcoma Awareness Month (July 2024), the Australia and New Zealand Sarcoma Association (ANZSA) is spotlighting the importance of ongoing research, funding, and clinical trials to advance patient outcomes in the fight against sarcoma.
