Lynelle Flinders, Cairns Indigenous Art Fair (CIAF) 2025 Fashion Coordinator, talking about CIAF ’25 Fashion Performances: Look & Listen. The 2025 CIAF Fashion Performances: ‘Look and Listen’, is a celebration of First Nations culture, showcasing breathtaking and visually arresting wearable art that culminates in a seamless fusion of groundbreaking fashion, modelling, design, and performance. This year, the Fashion Performance will be presented in two distinct shows, each exploring a unique theme. The first performance will explore the concept of ‘Look’ and invites audiences to gaze upon the bold artistry of six highly anticipated designers and their distinctive visions. While The second performance explores the concept of ‘Listen,’ inviting audiences to connect with the stories and inspirations woven into each garment. Prepare to be captivated by the narrative threads that bind together the collections of six highly anticipated designers. Set against the lush backdrop of Gimuy/Cairns’ Botanical Gardens precinct, the 16th edition of CIAF (10–13 July 2025) will transform Tanks 3, 4, and 5, rainforest surrounds, and the Collins Avenue promenade into a vibrant cultural precinct of truth-telling, talent and transformation. Brayden Packer, Indigenous Athlete – Southern Districts Titans (QLD), talking about the First-Ever Indigenous Round Honours Wheelchair Basketball Legend Kevin Coombs. A major moment in Australian sport — the launch of the first-ever Kevin Coombs Indigenous Round, honouring one of our greatest sporting trailblazers. Uncle Kevin was the first Indigenous athlete to represent Australia at the Paralympics and a pioneer in both disability sport and inclusion. With permission from his family, Wheelchair Basketball Australia has named this new annual round in his honour. It runs 4–6 July and Each team will wear a specially designed warm-up shirt by Darwin-based Indigenous artist Willie Hewitt, whose artwork tells a story of strength, vision and passing knowledge to the next generation. The design, titled The Next Generation, will feature in ceremonies across the weekend and be highlighted in WBA’s social media, live streams and broadcast commentary.
