1pm to 2pm is The Cairns Indigenous Art Fair – CIAF Hour via NIRS – National Indigenous Radio Service with Carli Willis and Jack Wilke-Jans.

Today on the show, Jack Wilkie-Jans yarns to Francoise Lane, an artist and textile designer that helps lovers of standout textiles and pattern by creating unique textiles inspired by stories of connection to country. Her goal is that her textiles will bring joy to your home and put a delightful spring in your step when you wear them.

Esteemed Indigenous artist Zane Saunders yarns about his premiere performance – Cure – during his residency at Bulmba-ja Art Centre 13-17 July 2020. With Covid-19 measures in place, Cure is to be adapted and presented as a 360˚ digital video through Cairns Indigenous Art Fair online platform during the festival.

David Jones pursues through his art practice and research, a critique of institutionalised and everyday racism in Australia. Continued dedication to this denial inhibits the progress of Australia’s national identity, whereas reflection on past actions, cast against understood social and cultural norms, can contribute to a new path – taking the steps to make amends.
