Gail Mabo, Eddie Mabo daughter, talking about Mabo Day. Mabo Day is marked annually on 3 June. It commemorates Mer Island man Eddie Koiki Mabo and his successful efforts to overturn the legal fiction of terra nullius, or ‘land belonging to no-one’. The Mabo decision was a watershed moment in Australian history.

Kevin Yow Yeh, QUT Lecturer, talking about the Indigenous Resistance, Revolutionaries and Rights class – Enrol in CIB103 Today! CIB103: Indigenous Resistance, Revolutionaries and Rights, is a university-wide elective at QUT that explores Indigenous peoples’ political and intellectual contributions in Australia and beyond. Any individual outside of the university through single-unit enrolment. That’s right! You don’t need to be a university student to take this course! What you’ll learn: Engage with Indigenous sovereignty, self-determination, and feminism through the lens of influential Indigenous thinkers from Queensland, Examine how the social construction of race has impacted Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and Explore anti-racist resistance movements and their relevance to contemporary social issues. Will Tim, Pacific Nights Managing Director, talking about the Pacific Nights QLD Tour! With an all star line up from Saii Kay, Jarahn, Moqai, Mereani Masani, George Telek, the Minigulai Band and DJ Bala Will watch as they take on Queensland. Will talks about the shows they’ve already done and what to expect throughout the rest of the tour. Up next they take on Mackay on the 6th June, followed by Brisbane on the 13th June.
