NATIONAL TALK BLACK – 29/05/2025

On todays National Talk Black via NIRS – National Indigenous Radio Service we have:

George Fennemore, Erub Island man and an advanced care paramedic for QLD ambulance service for over 30 years, talking about the Groundbreaking NITV documentary series Our Medicine. The series takes viewers behind the frontline of Australia’s strained medical services and shines a light on First Nations professionals and communities taking back control of Indigenous health. Our Medicine provides incredible access to major hospitals and organisations across Australia, including Queensland and Gimuy, with Royal Flying Doctors Service (RFDS) Queensland, Queensland Ambulance Service and Cairns Hospital featured. Other locations include Royal Melbourne Hospital, Jalngangurru Healing in Western Australia and NSW Justice Health. Our Medicine offers unique access to First Nations doctors, nurses, paramedics, traditional healers and other medical professionals, following their day-to-day challenges and as they support patients on their journey through the system. With life expectancy for First Nations peoples in Australia approximately eight years lower than that of non-indigenous Australians, Our Medicine tackles this difficult but critically important subject matter through the eyes of Indigenous medical professionals working in some of the busiest hospitals in Kimberley.
